30th October 2024 Traquair, Tweed.

Water down to about 10″ on the gauge and getting on the low side. but a nice mild fishing day.

In the morning, I got a really quite fresh 5lb fish from the top beat, but felt sorry for it so put it back – we can still keep a fish if fresh and a cock which this was.

In the afternoon one of our team had a 12lb stale fish from the Mound, otherwise nothing. Lots of stale fish sloshing about but they are reluctant to take anything, so some new ones needed I think.

That’s it for me at Traquair, but no complaints at all. 4 fish for my three days including my first ever Scottish fish of over 30 pounds. It doesn’t get better than that! My thanks again to Rufus for all his encouragement.

Off to Fairnilee in the morning for the first of three days there.
