8th April 2022 Murthly on Tay

Lower water:  Water back down to about 1ft 5ins. Good height for Murthly. Bitterly cold, strong, downstream wind and sporadic bright sun did not add to our enjoyment.

I had a fish on briefly in the Bargee right opposite where Cecil had a kelt on Wednesday, but it took and behaved like a kelt before it fell off.

One fish was seen but it jumped like a resident and despite Donald even resorting to the boat in the afternoon nothing to report.

Pretty grim really, reading the reports off the entire Tay system it is clear there just can’t be many fish coming into the river. 11 days on two beats with between 4 and 6 rods every day and nothing for the book so far. Not much else you can say.

I am travelling down tomorrow so will report anything to report from tomorrow on Monday.
