Well, despite the best efforts of storm Garry to deter us, the new seasons fish went into the lakes today without loss.
It is always good to see the lakes stocked. Time to shrug off the winter, dust off the gear and get ready for opening day.
The lakes are in fine ply, full but clear and hopefully even Garry won’t spoil that too much. The frogs and toads are in the middle of spawning which is good to see. The fish don’t touch them by the way, for some reason frogs, spawn and even tadpoles are unpalatable.
I have already seen good hatches of midge bought on by the hot spell last month – sunbathing in February for heaven’s sake, what was that all about! I expect the first of the Alder any day now.
Also not long before the first trip up north and my Tay Salmon courses. With a few springers already being caught, hopes are increasing for a better season this year. We are mightily overdue for one.
Not much left I’m afraid in the way of spaces, but I do I have one three day fishing-only rod on Murthly 11th – 13th April because one of my regulars is off-games for this year. Give me a call if you want to join us.
And of course don’t forget we are still here for the ever popular ArrowHead lines, leaders, rods and other gear, all available over the phone on 01342 850765 or via the on-line shop.
