Fairnilee, Tweed 31st October 2024

Happy Halloween!

Water ebbing away, 10″ on the Peebles gauge. Nasty downstream wind and bright sun, none of which assisted our cause.

Disappointment also to see that Sunderland Hall have cut down all the trees opposite Arras’s Putt so no shade now. And, Wattie’s famous “third Poplar” tree is no longer!

The Sunderland Hall rods also fished the Putt and Black Strand pretty much all day which never used to happen, but both have a lot of stale fish sloshing about in them, and with easy access now I can see why.

Lots of fish in Fairnilee (and it seems all of upper Tweed) is great to see this year, but I don’t think we had any new ones come through today as not a pluck of a pull for me or any of the Fairnilee rods that I know of.

I think we need more water or a good hard frost.
