The Tay, before we go.

With the Tay currently running at just over a foot on the Caputh gauge, fly fishing conditions are as good as it it gets at the moment. Spring fish are still able to run at this height but will be slowed down and more accessible, particularly on Dalmarnock where there is plenty of fishing from the banks and the wading is easy on the bigger pools.

The long range weather forecast is for more of the same next week with sunny but chilly conditions. Bright sun does not help at any time on the Tay because it is so clear, but I would rather some sun than high water.

There are fish being taken every day throughout the river. Not big numbers yet but April usually brings the first serious run of fish. Dalmarnock had three last week, so fingers crossed that more are on their way.

I will post reports on here as we go along.
