A week or so of very hot weather is never good for still water fishing as the upper layers become lacking in the oxygen so essential to the trout. But, returning to his usual weather form Ron Ransley ordered up a nice overcast and cool day and whilst we had to get Damsel Nymphs and Mayfly larvae well down for the best results, 27 Trout for 6 rods (Oh and 1 Tench!) is a pretty good day by anyone’s standards. One notable event, flushed with his limit of 6 Trout to his own rod, Ron embarked upon his quest for the elusive Tree-Trout – apparently he hooked one but it broke him!
