Just a heads up that if you are interested in coming to see me give one of my public demonstrations in the near future, I will shortly be attending the two most prestigious events in the calendar!
The Cowden Village Fete, Saturday 29th June. Yes it has only taken 25 years of living in, or at least near to Cowden for me to be asked to strut my stuff on home turf. Literally. There is no water on the village recreation ground! Nevertheless I shall be there giving a display of casting techniques and showing a few tricks to hopefully keep the kids amused. My kids amongst others – always a difficult audience! 2 o’clock is my allotted slot so see you there hopefully.
The CLA Game Fair. 18th – 20th July. A tad larger than the Cowden Village fete but a lot less stressful me-thinks. This year we are back at Blenheim and under new management which will hopefully throw or at least cast some fresh ideas into the fisherman’s row pot. The general theme we have been asked to follow is “Achievable Fishing” which I am told means not to be elitist (!) I guess that means no tie or tweeds, no trick casts or anything that the visitors would find difficult to do themselves. Hmmm, I suppose I might just drop the Tweeds. Then again, my general attitude to authority (or it might just be my age) means that I only get two slots this year, the opening demonstration on the Friday at 09.45 and the closing one on Saturday at 16.15. If there is any chance you have managed to park your car in time for the first one, or haven’t already buggered off by the second, I would love you to join me and guy with the dog.
