Arrived last evening crossing an already flooded Teviot and Ettrick to find Upper Tweed still clear – just! Overnight heavy rain and the river 7ft this morning rising to 9ft by lunchtime. The main excitement of the day was watching a picnic table come past, thankfully without the picnickers!

Trout & Salmon Courses 2022
Trusting that you are well and have come through the Covid ordeal without too much pain or sadness, I have just posted up the initial dates for my Trout & Salmon Courses in 2022. See dates and prices in my shop. There are not many places left on the salmon courses because most of my […]
Iceland East Ranga 4th – 8th July 2021
A CAST AT LAST!!! 2 years from my last overseas salmon fishing trip which was East Ranga 2019, packing the gear seemed almost surreal. Jumping the various Covid Grand National fences nearly had one faller before we got off the ground. Android phones don’t like Luton Airport. Nor do I for that matter but with […]
TROUT SEASON 2021 OPENS AT THE FARM
17th March 2021. Our season opens at the farm. Good fishing conditions except that a chilly easterly breeze produced a slightly slow start for the always early Chris J – Note that we are avoiding the usual group opening day due to Covid restrictions. But by mid morning it had warmed and several fish were […]
Christopher Robinson
It is with great sadness that I learned yesterday of the death of Christopher Robinson. He had apparently been being treated for Cancer for the past few months. Christopher was the founding partner of Roxton Bailey Robinson, now Roxtons, with whom I have taken fly fishers all over the world for over 26 years. I […]

Elibank 31st October 2020
My last day on Elibank was pretty much a washout. Gales and heavy rain with the water coloring and millions of leaves catching every cast. I fished until lunchtime and drew stumps early for the long drive home. No regrets. 9 salmon and a seatrout for my week and a nice fresh one in the […]
Elibank, Tweed. 30th October 2020
Arrived this morning to find the water up to about 2ft 6ins (The Sepa gauges are offline for some reason) and very dirty. The morning spent struggling with heavy sinking gear and leaves just about every cast. But never say never… mid stream down the Bridge Pool and I got a 4lb Seatrout. Not the […]
Elibank, Tweed 29th October 2020
Water 1ft 10ins and steady all day but a bit too high for Elibank according to Adam. The cause for tomorrow will not have been helped by strong wind and pissing rain most of the day which will at best hold the river up or worse lift it again. Nevertheless I did manage to hook […]
Fairnilee, Tweed, 28th October 2020
Sadly the river rose to 2ft 6ins overnight and was pretty colored for most of the morning dropping back to 2ft 1ins by close of play. A few plucks and pulls and a fish lost in Black Strand but otherwise we drew a blank. Tough going above 1ft 6ins on Fairnilee but it could fall […]
