Water down a little on yesterday for us on the Lower Water. Overcast morning but very cold easterly wind. I saw a fish in the tail of the Spruces early on but it either wasn’t interested or had moved on by the time Dennis P covered it. Several other fish seen today and Peter W […]

Murthly 8th April 2019
Upper Water: Height 1ft 6ins on Caputh gauge, mild some cloud cover in the morning and a good team of rods. It doesn’t get better…. except there were no fish. None of us saw so much as a fin all day other than a spectacular hatch of olives or March Browns and trout rising all […]
Dalmarnock 6th April 2019
Occasional showers forecast for us by the BBC for the morning… try torrential rain all morning and into the afternoon. River was rising, we were wet but enthusiasm was not diminished. Several fish seen. Jane S had a brief encounter in the Summerhouse pool, Lars R had a fish boil at his fly with me […]
Dalmarnock 5th April
It has stopped raining at last, however now replaced with blazing sun – are we ever happy? But at least the river is dropping back. Anyway, it was a truly lovely day on the river even if we only saw one fish, which totally ignored a fly put in front of it. Sadly therefore nothing […]
Dalmarnock 5th April 2019
Water 2ft 1in after 7 inch rise during the day yesterday spoiled what were just coming to be perfect conditions, though teaching 5 novices wasn’t giving us much actual fishing. Encouraging to see at least five fish moving through during the day. Hope we might get a chance today.
A last minute vacancy on Murthly 11th,12th and 13th April
One of my regulars Desmond A, has been scheduled for a routine, but very inconvenient, operation just prior to our Murthly week this year and cannot now take up his rod for the three days fishing 11th – 13th April. Cost £528 for the fishing, hotel extra around £86 per day DB&B and packed lunch. […]
2019 Salmon fishing & courses availability
MURTHLY 8th – 13th 2019 – I have now had responses from my Murthly regulars, only to hear that one poor chap’s daughter has decided to get married at that time and he cannot go. Thus I have one rare spare space on the Monday to Wednesday Improvers and one rod remaining on the three […]
Murthly Tay 7th April 2018
Water level 1ft 8ins and rising all day, most probably snow melt, with a bit of colour in it, not helping our cause. The team fished hard for the day but nothing to show for their efforts. 1 fish for the week – albeit a 25lb sea-liced cracker on the fly – is a pretty […]
Murthly on Tay 6th April 2018
Water 1ft 2ins on Caputh gauge. Cold and overcast. A small run of fish came through us at about 4.30 whilst Cecil was again in the Boat pool. He had a close encounter for a brief moment but it didn’t stick. He saw several fish move and a few minutes later David S saw them […]
Murthly on Tay 5th April 2018
One extreme to the other, after a very cold night the sun came up and we basked in hot bright sunshine all day. Needless to say that rather spoiled our chances but it was nice to be warm again. Water 1ft on the Caputh gauge and crystal clear… Nothing to report other than Nick L […]
