River 1ft 1inch on Caputh gauge and clear, after fairly heavy overnight snow. The drive down to the beat was entertaining but the snow melted as the day went on. Two of our rods went home early, not liking the wintry conditions, but the rest of the team fished most of the day. At least […]

Murthly Tay 3rd April 2018
Water 11″ on Caputh gauge and clear but cold, near perfect conditions. Cold wind in the morning and cold rain in the afternoon. At this height we should be seeing fish come through but we are not, so nothing to report. Its no use playing a good tune to an empty house, we need a […]
Murthly on Tay April 2nd
Water height 1ft on the Caputh gauge and clear. A good height. But a biting cold east wind made conditions very tough and the fishing effort suffered accordingly. As I write it has started snowing! We did see a couple of fish and Colin the Stenton ghillie had a 12 pounder today, but nothing for […]
The Tay 31st March 2018
As we head to Scotland, the river is just coming down to a nice height at 1’5″ on the Caputh Gauge. And, as I would expect as the river comes down to this level and the Murthly beats start holding fish, Donald had a fish yesterday and on Thursday. Also of note is that a […]
Tay spring course
I had to cancel the previous booking for my Dalmarnock basic course because it clashed with the Easter weekend and virtually no-one could make the dates. By way of a part alternative, Colin still has rods available for the three days 5th 6th & 7th April and I will be around in the mornings to […]

Just to let you know that I have had so many people wanting this Salmon course, but cannot do the dates because 29-31st March is Easter weekend that I am going to re-schedule with Colin. I will post the new dates as soon as possible.

Dalmarnock 28th September 2017
What on earth have we done to deserve this? River shot up this morning to over 5ft and coloured up on heavy rain in the west! A few knocks and bumps whilst fishing the few back eddies we could but in reality it was pretty hopeless. What’s more, the forecast says we are to get […]
Dalmarnock Tay 27th September 2017
Water down to 2ft 6ins and though still 6 ” too high we should have seen fish but other than two half hearted tugs we got zip. Where are all the autumn fish we should be seeing?
Dalmarnock 26th September 2017
Water back to 3ft 3ins on the gauge but at least a bit clearer. We have seen a fair few fish, got one almost to the net and had three more close encounters. Fairly typical of running fish. We need the level down to 2ft and below.
