The weather never ceases to amaze. Last year a bitter-cold, overcast week with lots of water. This year it was hotter than Spain. We barely saw a cloud all week and the sun bought temperatures in the mid 20s every day.
As ever with bright sun on low, gin-clear water, the fish were either just not moving or were just not there. We had a couple of close encounters, but nothing to show for it until just as we were leaving on Saturday when one of the syndicate rods got a sea-liced, 16 pounder from the Clackentaggart before the sun came on to the pool. He also had a tug from another. All of which proves that it is never hopeless!
But despite the poor fishing conditions it was a lovely week and I think everyone enjoyed it.
My thanks to Colin for his unending good humour and encouragement. We shall be back!
