Water 7″ and still very warm for the time of year, so I think oxygen content must be low and hence a reluctance to take. Certainly no shortage of fish this week.
Not even a tug for any of the Fairnilee rods that I knew of before I left at 2.30 for the long drive south. And pretty much the same story elsewhere I gather.
No matter, it was a lovely week to fish and a joy to be in the Borders at this time.
I can’t complain at all with 4 fish and the big one on Monday off Traquair!
Pity not to winkle one out of Fairnilee, but it is such a lovely beat, no little thanks to Mark, who looks after it so well and the Sawmill is without doubt the best fishing lodge I have ever been in. Oh and not forgetting Allan who helps him, who is never short of enthusiasm and encouragement. Thanks guys. I am already looking forward to next year.
