Top Water – A washout.
Water rose over a foot at night under torrential rain and was chocolate brown by the time we arrived. So all went home early.
A sad end to the week, with just three fish off the lower water and all taken on the harl. An identical result to last year.
Sitting in the boat freezing cold whilst the ghillie trolls for running fish is really not my idea of enjoyable fishing and so this year was already arranged to be my last at Murthly as a syndicate member.
I have fished at Murthly for 29 years and taught a lot of people my salmon fishing techniques on this lovely stretch of the Tay over this time. My thanks to both Donald and Tony for all their help, good nature and support over those years.
I very much hope to return, perhaps in kinder weather with a few more fish about one day.
