It has been a late spring here at the farm – the frogs in the lakes have still not yet spawned. The weather has kept water temperatures down, which is a good thing, but also the anglers away. Just two novices for my first course of 2015, Ray and Paul braved the rain in the morning to be rewarded with a lovely sunny afternoon.
Not much fly life about because of the cold, but our weed rake to look at the entomology revealed a fantastic number of caddis and damsels which is encouraging. The trout were feeding happily for most of the day and we landed 7 fish in total including 3 lovely browns. Not bad for your fist try at trout fishing.
