We opened the new trout season at the Farm yesterday and what a cracking day.
Chris J, ever the early bird, was down at the lakes by 7.30 and even though it was still pretty cold, he connected after about half an hour, landing our first trout of the season.
He then went on to get 5 more including a very good conditioned 3.5lb Brown which he returned.
By the time everyone else arrived the temperature had risen a little and despite a still-cold north east wind the trout were feeding near the surface. So much so that Ron R took several on a dry fly!
Everyone rather lost count of the total number of fish caught but it was certainly something over 30 with most returned safely. What a great start.
